Imaging Scanning
This is the most common scanning use in both the home and office environment. As mentioned before, there are two essential settings that need adjustment as follows:
Colour Settings
The four choices
1-bit black and white.
8-bit grey scale ( 256 shades of grey).
8-bit color (256 colors) – quicker to load, better for internet
uploads.
24-bit color (16.8 million colors) - gives a more photorealistic look
but slow to load.
Resolution Settings
Scanning images at the highest resolution and with the best color choice is something everybody wants to do, but this would create an enormous file size difficult for the scanning software to process, creating other problems in uploading etc.
The best way work out what resolution to use is to test a range of options until you find a resolution whose size makes is easy to work with.
Tip: For small images, it is better to go for a lower resolution with a higher color scale as a high resolution would be useless with not much to zoom into.
