Conversion
When changing from old methods of data storage to a new Document Management system, these is usually a need for data conversion from a system to another to be able to handle the different forms of storage and data. DM companies can convert most of these files by reading the varying medias such as WORM, CD, optical, tape and disc data formats.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and HTML conversion software is also useful for large volumes of paper data into digital form, as well as when dealing with graphics and tables.
Book Scanning
For fragile and important books and documents such as legal deeds, lab notebooks, old manuscripts and so on, there are dedicated book scanners to handle the job without even touching the original pieces, reducing the risk of harming the binding or pages in any way. The scanned images are able to be converted into PDF or other suitable formats making them available on the internet.
